In the afternoon of August 14th, sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and organized by Homevalley, the “Make Shanghai Your Home” series of events were held in Shanghai Huating Hotel. The events consisted of the opening ceremony, the Shanghai career meeting of overseas students from British and American prestigious universities, and the Shanghai career matchmaking meeting of international talents.
To create a new highland of marketization, internationalization and high-end orientation of innovative entrepreneurship, international talent policy innovation and brand-building service for employment of overseas students, “Make Shanghai Your Home” series of events aimed to build a brand activity of gathering global high-end talents and establish a mechanism that was supported by background resources of government department, talents recruited by employers in front-end and influence exerted by market professional organizations.
“Make Shanghai Your Home” series of events were of great significance, “Home” not only represented the high-educated and high-quality overseas students who went back home to start the journey in Shanghai, but also to make Shanghai one of the most desirable places like home for talents in the world. In the opening ceremony, the relevant talent departments and representatives of prestigious enterprises and institutions in Shanghai, delivered a keynote speech on how to find a career route, workplace data analysis of international talents, having a topic discussion of the advantage comparison of overseas students and domestic college graduates and what kind of overseas students were more popular in enterprises.

In the branch meeting of “Making Shanghai your home”, the Shanghai career meeting of overseas students from British and American prestigious universities, and the Shanghai career matchmaking meeting of international talents, more than 800 PhDs , masters and bachelors from 9 global prestigious universities, including Cambridge University, Imperial College London, London School of Economics and Political Science, Columbia University, University of Chicago, University of Toronto, Berkeley University, Stanford University, UCLA and outstanding overseas students from major universities in Shanghai, conducted talent exchange and pairing activities with Shanghai large and medium stated-owned enterprises, multinational corporations, key scientific research institutions and other employers.
More than 60 enterprises and institutions participated the meeting, including China Commercial Aircraft Corporation, AECC Commercial Aircraft Engine Co.LTD, Shanghai Electric Group, China Eastern Airlines, Huawei, Wuxi Apptech Co.LTD, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bloomberg, Johnson & Johnson, ExxonMobil, Ford Motor, Shanghai Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai New York University, etc., had launched more than 1000 positions, involving accounting, finance, law, management, mechanical engineering, electronics and electrical engineering, mathematic, economics, materials science, chemistry engineering, life sciences, medical science, bioengineering, etc.
To deliver comprehensive information consultation and guidance and to answer questions for overseas students who were interested in coming to Shanghai, the event also provided “one-on-one” policy consultation and guidance in the form of booth linkage, covering a lot of aspects including household registration, entry and exit, education for children, and settling down.
