On September 4th, 2019, the final of the Shanghai Yangpu Star of Startups Global Contest entered the 2nd day. Various players went into competition and show their projects.
This competition was a comprehensive final and the entrepreneurship masters from 21 projects would definitely bring us an excellent game. ‘Mass Entrepreneurship and Numerous Innovation’ was a major strategy proposed by the country based on the needs of transformation and the stimulating the potential for innovation. The Yangpu District Committee of Shanghai had always attached great importance to youth innovation and entrepreneurship. In the final of this competition, Li Jinggang, deputy director of the organization department of Yangpu District Committee of Shanghai, was on the scene and understand the situation with his group.
The competition events mainly included: automotive transparent head-up display system based on the new generation of nano-light display technology, intelligent driving lane keeping auxiliary control system, solar energy storage heating and power generation system in electric off-peak time, the integrated system of intelligent air pollution control based on photocatalysis, Banhui wireless fast intelligent charging device etc. Today’s comprehensive final competition projects’ domains included but not limited to big data applications and cloud platform services, intelligent manufacturing and advanced equipment, intelligent home products and services, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and self-driving, Internet of things and cars, intelligent logistics, intelligent image recognition, intelligent voice control, professional application software for artificial intelligence, modern efficient ecological agriculture and food.
At the scene of the competition event, the jury not only provided objective and fair evaluation, and the direction of thorough development, but also brought the prospect of industry insight to the entrepreneurs. If hard-tech entrepreneurs failed, a numerous number of them fell down on overemphasizing the progressiveness without accounting. Whether it’s hard or soft technology, you gain profit from customers’ payment. Accounting is the most basic quality of an entrepreneur. You should be able to measure how long your cash flow can last and figure out why your customers are willing to pay for your products. Don’t indulge yourself in the technology you are proud of, without customers’ payment, it doesn’t make any sense at all. A entrepreneur must have both certain understanding of technology and the ability of building product structures to meet the pain point of customers, then find’ ways to improve the capacity to achieve large-scale commercialized production. A company’s growth from a seed to a unicorn needs a lot of abilities in each step meanwhile the founder needs different abilities in different stages as well. As long as a team has the ability to update and self-learn, it is necessary to give them time to grow.
