Talents from Silicon Valley Connect with Yangpu District

On March 4th, 2018, governors from Yangpu District and delegates from 20 outstanding entrepreneurial companies attendted "China Shanghai Yangpu Innovation Entrepreneurship and Talent Overseas Promotional Roadshow" in Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Highland - Silicon Valley in the United States.

Bringing excellent talent introduction policies and a large number of open positions, Yangpu District is practicing “mass entrepreneurship and innovation” with its actions; In good faith, Yangpu District will attract outstanding talents from Silicon Valley to return to China; use strength to protect the development and growth of entrepreneurs and returnees!



The promotional roadshow was led by the Shanghai Yangpu District People’s Government. Around 20 well-known companies in Yangpu District and 40 company representatives went to the United States. More than 200 people from overseas market signed up to attend the roadshow.


This event attracted nearly 250 local talents in Silicon Valley. During the event, everyone learned about the current development situation, the entrepreneurial and employment environment, and the policy of attracting talents in Yangpu District. Listening to the outstanding entrepreneurial representatives to share their experience in Yangpu’s entrepreneurship and rooting after returning to China; Exchange ideas, connect resources, consult personal development paths, etc. The event ended at around 10 pm.


One of the participants said: "Silicon Valley usually has a lot of activities, but this time I really feel the sincerity of the Yangpu District Government, and I am also infected by the experience sharing from business representatives. It is very touching. In Silicon Valley, it is rare that more than 200 Chinese talents come together. It is not easy! ”

Nearly 250 people sat in the grand auditorium of Stanford University. At the beginning of the event, Qiu Jian, chairman of Homevalley hosted the event and welcomed everyone.


First of all, Zhu Xuehua, Science and Technology Counsellor of Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in San Francisco and Zhang Xiaosong, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, gave the opening speeches for this event.


Later on, Li Yueqi, Secretary of CPC Yangpu District Committee introduced Shanghai Yangpu District. He said: "Stanford University is one of the most outstanding universities in the world, bringing together the best talents in the world. Its excellence and innovation are the goals that Shanghai Yangpu is striving for." He also described Yangpu through 3 Centennial Civilization.


Secretary Li introduced the current strong entrepreneurial atmosphere and entrepreneurial resources in Yangpu District: 20 science and technology parks, 79 hacker spaces, 2.3 million square meters of innovative and entrepreneurial carriers, nearly 10 million square meters of old factory resources, and the same university road as Silicon Valley Venture Street, the open and shared Riverside International Innovation Belt and the only inland island in Shanghai-Fuxing Island.


In the end, Secretary Li launched the "3310 Talents Program" to introduce 10 policies to support returning talents. He used a sentence: "Don't care about where heroes are from. Yangpu welcomes you to achieve your dreams and create the glory of life!" The enthusiasm of the audience was ignited.


Representative enterprise in Yangpu District: CEO and founder of Shanghai Liulishuo Information Technology, Wang Yi, introduced the real experience and feelings of returning to Yangpu to start a business. From the start of funding for the 3310A project in Yangpu in 2013 to successful C round fund raising in 2017 and having registered users of 70 million in 2018, this enterprise becomes a small giant in Yangpu District. Without Yangpu District, Shanghai Liulishuo Information Technology Co., Ltd. is not able to reach this height. 


Founder of First Pacific Technology Group, Senior Researcher of Economic Policy Institute in Stanford University, Li Hongbin, founder of Leap.ai (enterprise from Silicon Valley), Doctor Liu Youzhong, and student representative in Standford University, Doctor Wang Jingfan，also gave the speeches.


After the Promotional Roadshow speech, the event entered the next climax - recruiting talents and docking activities with meals.


The successful ending of this event is only the beginning of follow-up talent introduction. Through the exchange platform of talent introduction between China and U.S., we can enhance the competitive advantage of complementary human resources.
