On July 31st Canadian Time, the Vancouver division semi-final of 2018 The Third Yangpu "Global Startup Competition" was held in SFU's VentureLabs. This semi-final was supported by C2CAN and SFU VentureLabs. There were a number of entrepreneurial boutique projects in Vancouver, covering industries of new energy, new materials and smart technologies. At the beginning of the competition, contestants were geared up and staged wonderful roadshows.

According to competition rules, semi-final at Vancouver was competed in closed roadshows with panels of judges including Ian Hand, CEO of SFU VentureLabs, Li Zhaohui, General Manager of CCCIC China-Canada Clean Technology Innovation Center, Li Zhong, Computer technology expert of SFU VentureLabs, Virgina Balcom, Marketing expert, and Qiu Jian, founder of Homevalley. After the intense competition, 6 projects were qualified to the final competition. Among those projects, Elix wireless charging pile, ViewsIQ and Smart Pillbox won the top three prizes in Vancouver division. This semi-final ended with a short and grand award ceremony. The winners were awarded with certificates by judges.

Qiu Qian, founder of Homevalley, said that projects from Vancouver were generally mature and are ready to enter the Chinese market since most of them have passed the start-up stage and have a certain market foundation. Homevalley will actively support those projects in locating and developing in China.
