Mayor of Palo Alto Visited Homevalley

On September 4th, 2018, Mayor of Palo Alto hold a cocktail reception in Homevalley to celebrate the establishment of sisterhood between Palo Alto and Yangpu. 
 

During these days, Shanghai was experiencing thunderstorms. With better weather today, we welcomed the party of Ms. Liz Kniss, the mayor of the U.S. sister city of Yangpu, Palo Alto. 

 



 

This March, Li Yueqi, Secretary of Yangpu District, led a team to Palo Alto in USA and signed a sister city agreement. Later on, Liz Kniss, the mayor of Palo Alto, first visited Yangpu District.
 


 

Palo Alto is known as the center of Silicon Valley since many high-tech companies located here. It is also the origin of Silicon Valley.



 

 

The visiting delegation showed a strong interest in innovation and entrepreneurship in Yangpu. In the morning, they visited China (Shanghai) Public Practiving Base for Entrepreneurs. Later on, they came to Homevalley and shared ideas about entrepreneurship in different locations. 



 

 

In the evening, Homevalley hosted a cocktail party to celebrate the friendship between Palo Alto and Yangpu. Qiu Jian, the chairman of Homevalley, gave the opening speech and warmly welcomed guests at the beginning of this party.  His humorous speech lighted the atmosphere of the party.

Later on, Liz Kniss, the mayor of Palo Alto, expessed her feelings of coming back to Shanghai after five years. While being amazed by the quick development of Shanghai, she hope there would be more communication and learning opportunities between students from Yangpu and Palo Alto.

Next, representing government of Yangpu District, Meng Yuhong, the deputy director of Yangpu District Business Committee, introduced Zhao Liang, deputy head of Yangpu District, and welcomed Palo Alto delegation's trip to Yangpu. She hope there will be deeper communication at all levels with Palo Alto in the future.

Bob Wenzlau, president of Friendship Cities Association, and Wei Bin, vice president of Friendship Cities Association, introduced Sister City Project of Palo Alto. They showed the undescrible charm of Palo Alto with a video.

At the end, Zhou Yanling, vice president of Bay Area Council, welcomed all the guests and hope everyone enjoy the dinner.

While eating Chinese buffet, all the guests explored the development and current situation of those two cities. 



 

After this event, we hope the twinned Yangpu and Palo Alto could have a better and closer cooperation in different industries, urban develppment and education.
