About Application

Q: Is there an application fee?
A: No, it is free.
 
Q: What kind of materials do I need to submit for application?
A: Please go to http://2019.homevalley.net/apply/en-us/index.html to fill out your
information and upload your Business Plan (BP format: pdf, less than 30MB).
 
Q: Can I update my BP?
A: Yes, you can update your BP before 6PM on June 15th Beijing Time. Once you have
successfully registered for the competition, you will receive a confirmation email with
application password inside. Please go to www.homevalley.net/en/, click Learn More，
Update Your BP in the menu bar and enter your application password to update your BP.
We will use your latest BP for the same project.
(*For Paris Site, you can update your BP before July 20th through email)
 
Q: How many global sites are there in this competition?
A:
1 semi-final site in Toronto : June 22th, 2019
1 semi-final site in Vancouver: June 24th, 2019
1 semi-final site in Hangzhou: June 25th, 2019
1 semi-final site in Silicon Valley: June 29th, 2019
1 semi-final site in Paris: July 26th, 2019
5 semi-final sites in Shanghai : June 6th-June 20th, 2019
1 final site in Shanghai : August 5th-August 25th, 2019
 
Q: Which site should I apply for?
A: You can apply at your nearest site.


About Contest Process

Q: Who will be evaluating my applications?
A: The application review committee will consist of representatives from VCs, incubators
and angel investors.
 
Q: When will I know results for preliminaries, semi-finals, finals and bonus award?
A:

• Preliminary Stage: 12 projects from each site will be selected for semi-final round. We will announce the result in June.  （*Result for Paris Site will be announced in July ）

• Semi-final Stage: 6 projects from each site will be selected for the final competition. We will announce the result in July.

• Final Stage: 120 projects will receive awards. We will announce the result in October.

• Bonus Award: We will announce the winners in September 2019 (Bonus Round is not mandatory and it will not affect your Star of Start-ups Global Contest award).

 
About Receiving Awards

Q: Do I need to pay tax for the cash award?
A: No, the cash awards are tax-exempt.
 
Q: When will I receive the cash award?
A: 50% cash award before December 31st, 2019 and the remaining 50% before July 31st, 2020.
 
Q: How will I receive cash award?
A: We will transfer the money to the business bank account of your company registered in
Yangpu District.
